Then based on the functions, I created an Information Architecture Map to helped us understand how the users navigate through the app.

User testing

After ideating the functions, we build a Low-fidelity prototype. We used sketch tool to help us quickly test our designs.

Based on user testing, the user said the color change was difficult to understand the Chart, and didn't tell the exact information clearly. Thus, We unified the visual system and updated the weight graphic to better inform the users about their data from EMR record and Local record.

PROTOTYPE

Takeaway

Offering the crucial feature is more important than offering everything.

There are many functions that can be offered through a pregnant app such as taking records of baby bump, records of contractions, kick counter, and so on. Based on user research, some expectant mothers had used other pregnant apps but only for certain features. Although other features might provide help to them, they are not their priorities, and thus become redundant to them. Instead of offering more, we should focus on the right content that fits our target users.
